mall_libraryJoin the Hawaiian-Pacific Chapter of the Special Libraries Association and the Leeward CC Library in kicking off National Library Week (April 12-17) at Community Libraries Day on Sunday, April 12 at McCarthy Mall, UH Manoa campus.  From 10 AM – 3 PM twenty libraries, archives, educational institutions, and professional organizations will showcase their innovative programs, digital initiatives, and outreach services at this event.

Tours of the Law Library, Hamilton Library Preservation Department (Kahili Preservation Project), and the Library & Information Library Program are scheduled.  Activities, games, prize drawings, food, and entertainment will be available.  Check out our children’s book fair and used book/CD/DVD sale, too.  Ono food available from Da Spot and Uahi Island Grill.

Libraries are evolving and thriving in this digital age.  Don’t miss this unique opportunity to discover the many contributions libraries and librarians make throughout our community.  This is a chance for you and your students to learn what it takes to become an information professional during the LIS Program info sessions and tours.  It takes more than knowing how to shelve books!

Free admission and parking.  For a complete list of participating organizations and the event program go to hawaii.sla.org.
