At Leeward CC, we are committed to adopting low-cost, creative commons, or free alternatives to commercial course materials. We aim to adopt, adapt and build open educational resources thus contributing to the OER global community.
The Library continues its partnership with the Educational Media Center to promote OER as a viable alternative to expensive commercial textbooks. Since 2014 we have jointly offered a series of informational sessions and hands-on workshops to expose faculty to the growing collection of OER materials. Librarians are ready to support faculty by identifying materials for review, providing assistance with source attribution and licensing, and answering questions about the benefits of OER as you make the decision whether to go open and go free.
